A Boutique Hotel Born from Çavuşin’s Historic Cave Homes
Located in Çavuşin, one of Cappadocia's historic settlements, Agarta Cave Hotel's history stems from two old mansions/cave houses that reflect the region's traditional lifestyle. The first of these houses was known as the "Teacher's House," where one of the village's esteemed teachers lived with his family for many years. The second structure, known as the "Kayacı Süleyman's House," was inhabited for generations by the Kayacı family, one of Çavuşin's long-established families. Both structures were traditional living spaces carved into the natural rock texture of Cappadocia. Due to the prevailing conditions, earthquakes in the region, and the relocation of settlements to flatter terrain, these houses deteriorated over time, became unusable, and remained abandoned for long periods. After 2013, the new owners of the two historic buildings underwent a comprehensive restoration process, remaining faithful to the region's architectural heritage. The restoration not only preserved the original stone and rock texture but also created a comfortable structure that meets contemporary accommodation standards. Following the completion of all construction, Agarta Cave Hotel officially opened its doors in 2017, welcoming guests as a special boutique hotel that combines the authentic spirit of Cappadocia with modern comfort. Today, Agarta Cave Hotel continues to offer its guests not just a stay, but an experience steeped in history, culture, and hospitality, keeping the story of these two houses, dating back centuries, alive.
